City Stickers

A valid City Sticker is required for all vehicles owned or leased by City residents. New residents and newly purchased vehicles have 30 days to purchase a sticker or you may be subject to late fees. You can purchase a City Sticker at one of the following locations:

  • Online

  • City Clerk's City Hall Office

    • 121 N. La Salle Ave., Room 107

  • City Clerk's North Side Satellite Office

    • 5430 W. Gale St.

  • Department of Finance Neighborhood Payment Center

    • 4445 N. Pulaski Rd.

Please note, we are not able to issue or sell City Stickers at the 39th Ward Office.

Residential Permit Parking

Certain streets throughout the City of Chicago restrict parking through Residential Permit "Zone" Parking. To park on those streets, vehicles must display a City Sticker reflecting the Zone number or a Residential Daily Permit sticker. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹To find out if your address qualifies for Zone Parking, visit the website linked here: Zone Lookup.

Daily Permit Pass stickers may be purchased from the city Clerk's office. You must already have an account with the Clerk's Office reflecting your access to the zone to purchase passes online. Qualifying residents are eligible for up to 3 sheets of 15 stickers each a month. Each sheet costs $15.

If you live on a corner building, but your address is not directly within the zone, our office may grant a Residential Parking Letter of Exception that grants you access to that zone. To request a letter of exception, email ward39@cityofchicago.org including the information below or stop by our office.

  • Full Name

  • Address (including unit number if applicable)

  • Proof of Address (Photo ID, utility bill, lease, etc.)

  • Car Make and Model

  • License Plate Number

  • Requested Zone Number

Disabled Parking

Disabled Parking Placards are issued by the Secretary of State's office. The application is available to download here.

Chicago Residents are also able to apply for disabled parking signs to be installed in front of your home if you meet the requirements listed below:

  • The applicant must reside on a residential street that is zoned R-1 through R-5.

  • The applicant must have either a current disabled Illinois license plate or a disabled placard issued by the Secretary of State when parking in the designated space.

  • The applicant does not have off-street parking available to them (ex: driveway, accessible garage, etc.)

  • Sign installation and maintenance costs must be paid by the applicant. The fee for the application and the first year's permit is $70. In subsequent years, the renewal fee is $25 per year.

Residential Move "No Parking" Signs

The 39th Ward Office offers "No Parking" signs to residents who are moving in or out of our neighborhoods to assist in the loading and unloading of moving trucks. These are non-enforceable, courtesy signs.

We recommend posting these signs 24-48 hours in advance of the No Parking restriction to allow neighbors notice and time to relocate their vehicles.

In order to request these signs, please call our office at 773.736.5594.

Winter Parking

To ensure that the most travelled and critical roadways in Chicago are kept clear at all times, the City of Chicago institutes a Winter Overnight Parking Ban on 107 miles of vital arterial streets from 3:00 am to 7:00 am between December 1st and April 1st. This ban is in effect regardless of snowfall. In the 39th Ward, the only street covered by this ban is W. Lawrence Ave. There is an interactive map below that shows all areas across the City affected by the Overnight Parking Restriction.

Vehicles left parked during these times face a $150 towing fee, a $60 ticket, and a daily storage fee, which starts at $25 per day. If you suspect that your vehicle has been towed, you can search for it on the Streets and Sanitation's website by clicking here.

Additionally, the City institutes a Snow Route Parking Restriction on arterial streets when there has been more than two inches of snowfall in order to ensure plows can safely clear these main routes. This restriction applies to most 39th Ward arterial streets. See the map below to see all roads where this restriction applies.

Commercial Vehicle Parking

It is illegal to park a commercial vehicle on a residential street if not actively working on a property in that area. Please note, this does not automatically include all vehicles with 'B' plates. The vehicle must be marked with the company's name or logo, have a ladder rack, or other external modification that makes it clear this is a commercial vehicle.

If you notice vehicles parking in violation of this or any of the restrictions, please reach out to our office with the address and description of the offending vehicles. We will coordinate with the Department of Finance's Parking Enforcement division to arrange for parking enforcement in that area.

The driver of a commercial vehicle may display a special Contractor’s Placard to avoid certain types of tickets or fines while parked on a residential street. The placard should be visible through the vehicle’s windshield. For more information, please visit this link: Contractor Placard for Commercial Vehicles.
