The City of Chicago Department of Family & Support Services operates the City's Domestic Violence Hotline. The Help Line is a 24-hour, toll-free confidential number that functions as a clearinghouse for domestic violence services and information. The Help Line provides survivors with immediate information about their options, information on safety planning, and referrals to community-based providers. Trained domestic violence advocates staff the phones 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Bilingual advocates are always available, and operators can access the Language Line for over 140 other languages.

Housing Opportunities for Women (HOW) - 312.361.1707
HOW is the third-largest provider of permanent supportive housing in Chicago and serves more than 600 households annually. They connect households who are experiencing or are at-risk of homelessness, including women experiencing domestic violence, with stable and affordable housing.

If you or someone you know is seeking temporary or permanent supportive housing, the person seeking housing must call 312.361.1707 to complete a housing assessment. This call center is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. Please note, this does not immediately solve your housing crisis. If you are in need of immediate shelter, please call 311 to request transportation to a shelter.
