Tree Trimming
In 2023, the Bureau of Forestry switched to a grid based trimming system. Through this system, they are able to trim more than twice as many trees in a year as opposed to the old system, with a 118% increase in trims. Under this system, the Bureau of Forestry divided the city into sixteen block grids, and now they service one grid at a time and trim every tree that they determine needs trimming in that specific grid. They are no longer taking requests for specific trees to be trimmed unless there is an emergency.

If there is a downed tree, broken limb, or detached limb dangling from a tree, please report that as a Tree Emergency to 3-1-1 or our office directly.
Tree Removal
The Bureau of Forestry only removes trees from the public way if they are dead, diseased, or if the tree's roots are blocking access to the utilities in the parkway.
To request a tree removal, please contact our office. It is helpful to submit photos of the tree with the initial request. An inspector will assess the tree and make the final determination on the tree removal.

Tree Planting
You can request a tree be planted in the parkway in front of your house. Forestry plants trees in spring and fall and is unable to plant during the summer or winter because of weather conditions. Due to this and the high demand, requests take about a year to be completed.
To request a tree, please reach out to our office or 3-1-1 to place the request.
